The trail bobs and weaves for the first half mile, and then it starts to bounce <br />
upward. The steepness of the climb is offset by the roll of the trail (i.e. every <br />
steep uphill is preceded by a brief downhill). Eventually, the Sidewinder passes <br />
through a gate and meets up with the motorcycle trail. The motorcycle route is <br />
very loose and rocky (shale), but it does meet up with the rest of the Kelly <br />
Canyon trail network at the summit of Kelly Mountain. Ride safe!
Follow directions toward Kelly Canyon Ski Resort/Heise Hot Springs. After you <br /><br />pass the hot springs, the golf course and then the red barn, turn right onto East <br /><br />Heise Road. Follow the road until you reach a public parking area with trailhead <br /><br />signs for Stinking Springs. There is a spring-loaded brown metal gate across the <br /><br />dirt road from the parking area where the Sidewinder begins. (It's not the dirt <br /><br />bike route.)
